does the 110 volt commercial champion juicer convert to 220 volts or is an entirely different machine needed?
Is there a meat grinding attachment for the champion?
Sorry. Champion does not make a meat grinding attachment. They only make a grain grinding attachment (Which will only work for grinding grain into flour)
Help! My champion stopped working today, it appears fine, with no burnt smell, so I do not think the motor is burnt out. What should I do?
The main thing that goes wrong with the champion, is the magenet that is used for the magnetic saftey switch comes out and/or the magnet gets dislodged. This will prevent the machine from coming on. If you look in the "spout" piece, you will see something riveted on, its a little case, that holds a small cylinderical magnet, that actives the magentic switch behind the hub. Be sure that this is installed correctly.. Also check to ensure the spout piece is assembled correctly on the housing. If its not that then call the manufacturer.
I have been thinking about purchasing a Champion juicer but have heard that it needs to be oiled after every cleaning?
Yes, the manufacturer does suggest to lube the motor shaft (the motor is oil free) with coconut oil or olive oil after each use, or the cutting blade may get stuck on the shaft (which is hard to get unstuck). (We suggest using coconut oil, its available in most health food stores)
Can I use the Champion to grind nuts with the blank plate in?
I would like to mill dry grains for flour to be used in pancakes, waffles, muffins and any good recipes I can get my hands on. May be even breads. Although I'm leaning much more to sprouted breads. I would also like to mush up raw foods to be eaten. Like carrots, turnips, daikon, and others. What about soaked grains?
Yes, you can put nuts through the champion to make nut butters with the blank plate in. Dry grains for pancakes and waffles, muffins and the such can be made with the grain mill attachment. For sprouted (wet grains) you should use the blank plate. if a finer consistency is desired, you can run it through twice. The champion is great for mushing up foods (with the blank plate) - the blank plate is sure handy! Some people think about "milling" soaked (sprouted grains) it wont work in the champion grain mill (its designed for dry grains).. but can be done with the blank plate that is included with the Champion Juicer.
Is there a clean up brush available for the champion?
There is no "specific" brush for the champion.. I reccomend using a "bottle" brush that is available from most grocery stores for about $1.00. The passage ways on the champion are the large enough so that a special brush is not required.
I have heard that the champion has a tendency to get heated up with can ruin some of the health benefits of fresh juice?
Yes, the champion juicer works on the mastication process, which causes some friction. The housing of the champion may get warm to the touch in some instances. (This especially happens when you are using a DULL BLADE or juicing A LARGE quantity at once). I believe we were the first retailer on the web to advertise the champion to cause some heating. While the heating is very minor (ie: a little warmer), its by no means "cooking" your juice). While we have not done any testing on this issue, It is our opinion, the heat will NOT HAVE A SIGNIFICANT impact on the health benefits of the juice. It may slightly affect the quality of the juice if the temperature gets too, too hot, and start to degrade the enzymes. To lessen the effects of the friction/heat, we suggest a few things:
1. SLOW DOWN- take your time when juicing. If juicing too fast, it will cause excess friction/heat.
2. CHILL PRODUCE- start with COLD produce, right out of the fridge.
3.ADD ICE- if you believe its getting to hot, just drop an ice cube in the chute, and juice it along with your vegetables, this will add some water to the juice, and will help cool the machine.
4.REST THE MACHINE- if juicing a large quantity, do it in two sessions, with a "break" to give the machine a time to "cool off" in between.
Despite the above shortcoming, which we believe to be minor, The champion is a good, dependable juicer, if it suits your purpose. In our opinion, the Champion Commercial Juicer may be less prone to heating the juice, due to the more powerful motor.
I was told that the Champion juicer has a wheatgrass juicer attachment. Is this true? Does the champion juice wheatgrass?
Sorry, there is no attachment for the champion to juice wheatgrass. We do not reccomend juicing wheatgrass with the champion, since it will produce little yield (compared to a dedicated wheatgrass juicer), and strain the motor of the champion, probably reducing its life. We suggest a dedicated wheatgrass juicer for juicing wheatgrass.
Can you use the grain mill attachment for the Champion Juicer or a Grain Mill to grind herbs?
The grain mill attachment and electric grain mills we sell are designed to grind hard grains - OILY MATERIALS will cause their failure.
I am concerned about the 1 year warranty on the motor and the fact that you do not have motors available on your parts page for the champion juicer. What has your experience been on how long these motors last before burning out? If it occurred where could I purchase one?
I would have to say that the motor is one of the STRONGEST parts to the juicer. I have several customers that have owned their machine 10+ years, and its still working great for them. The machine is made in the US, unlike the "juiceman" with its overseas motor with 1 year warranty (that I would worry a bit about- although I have owned mine for 5 years without any problems). The champion motor, as long it is used correctly- and not abused, should last well past the 1 year warranty on the motor. The motor is a "standard" GE motor that most any motor shop in your area could rebuild. It is also available directly from champion.
Please explain the difference in the large hole screen and the small hole screen for Champion juicers.
The screen that is included with the champion is the small hole screen. It is reccomended for juicing most fruits and vegetables. The large hole screen is generally purchased seperately. It is used if you want to get more pulp in the juice. Also I have heard it works better when juicing fruit.
What are the exact differences between the home and commercial versions of the Champion Juicer?
The basic difference is as follows: The Household model has a hardened steel motor shaft. The commercial unit has a stainless steel motor shaft (not prone to rusting) and has a heavy duty motor and is dual voltage (can operate on 220 volts) I generally suggest the commercial unit for commercial uses, or if you have a large family or will be using the juicer often, and for long periods of time. The household unit is quite sufficient for normal household uses, although if you want the best and most durable, go with the commercial.
does the 110 volt commercial champion juicer convert to 220 volts or is an entirely different machine needed?
The Champion Commercial comes set up to work on 110 volts with a US plug. (for USA use). If you should move overseas does convert to 220 volts, with some wiring changes on the inside of the machine, you will also probably require an adapter plug. See Here for a wiring diagram to change the juicer to 220 volts.
